Beauty: Unicorn 'horn' brushes
I thought I would take a little break from the typical outfit review posts and blog about my very special, very quirky, unicorn makeup brushes, that my Mum kindly brought me for Christmas this year. I'm yet to own a makeup brush set and I was very excited to try them out (although a little sad that the coloured bristles are now stained with product - wanted them to stay fresh forever). If you want to try a brush set, check out Beauty Bay - they offer a range of branded makeup products ranging from some high end brands to those a little more affordable.
Unicorn brushes: Beauty Bay
I of course started off by prepping my face, using rose water and moisturiser and started applying my foundation (Chanel - 40 Biege - £37) with a round buffer brush, using circular motions and patting gently where needed.
I then applied conclealer (Naked - medium/light neutral - £19) under my eyes, down my nose and a little on my chin and forehead, using the concealer brush to apply and then a damp beauty blender to pat into the skin. I find that a beauty blender works best for a flawless finish.
I then go in with my dark contour stick, outlining the sides of my face, the hollows of my cheeks and under the chin. Sometimes I will skip this part and just use a dark powder instead. I then set my concealer with the Laura Mercier translucent loose powder (£29).
Having a little break from the face, I move onto my eyes. Starting with the brows, I outline with a Rimmel brow pencil (£3.29), slightly enlarging and lengthening my natural brows for a fuller look. Sometimes for a darker finish I use the eyelure dip brow pot (£8.90). This thin 'fleeky brows' brush is perfect for outlining and shaping the brows.
Then onto my favourite part, the highlighter! I love that real poppin' glow and I am true believer in you can never wear enough highlighter. I firstly apply a liquid highlighter to my cheek bones, end of my nose and just under my brows. I have been using the Barry M illuminator (£6.99), but have recently purchased the Iconic London drops (£33) and will let you guys know my thoughts and whether there is much of a difference in these products (aside from the price). I then dust a small amount of the Orfa highlighter (£25) in the shade Rodeo Drive over the highlighted areas with a 'strobe alert' fan brush.
Below is the finished look. I have used the Fenty red STUNNA lip paint (£19) for my lip look. This is a wonderful product. Only a small amount of liquid is needed and once applied to the lips, this dries matte to form a tasteful 'red lip.'
Although a little off track from my fashion rants, I hope you enjoyed this post. I am not a professional makeup artist, so apologies if my makeup isn't on 'point.' I love messing around testing new products, so I would love to blog a little more on beauty and skincare, so watch this space!
