Outfit Review: Blogging on the Brunch

I am conscious that I haven’t blogged in a while, especially not anything specifically outfit related, so I wanted to write a little review on what I wore to brunch a couple of weeks ago. I attended my friend Ellena’s birthday ‘bottomless brunch’ at MuMus in Maidstone two weekends back. I have brunched many a times before (mainly accidental, as I always eat a late breakfast), but a brunch loaded with prosecco was something I hadn’t experienced. And because of this, I was a little unsure on dress code for such event.

Having just paid off my holiday to Mexico (yay) I was a little light on dollar, so I decided to pull together some pieces I already had in my wardrobe. I went for a fairly dressy look, but kept it classy for the day time - choosing a black long skirt, a cropped long sleeve loose top and my all time favourite, multi-coloured feathered heels, which made their first appearance. I was actually really pleased not to be wearing these heels for the first time in a dark night club, as I feel they were more appreciated when worn in daylight - plus the feathers didn’t get ruined by flying sticky alcohol.

I have actually owned this skirt for quite a while now and I purchased this from Topshop as something I could wear when I wanted to dress up, but not particularly for a night time event. I then used this as my ‘go to’ work outfit for a while, as it went great with a shirt for a client meeting. However, I decided to re-embrace the ‘dress-up’ look for this occasion. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find this exact style of skirt on the Topshop website, but have linked to similar styles at the end of this post.

Moving onto this little cropped top, which I actually borrowed from my sissy in law Mia. This beautiful flare-sleeved crop top was brought from PrettyLittleThing and since I was wearing a black skirt, I decided to throw a bit of a colour and a pattern into the mix, to liven up the look. A very comfy top, stretchy and perfect for a heavy brunch, but also very delicate, which makes the outfit that little bit more tasteful.

Now moving onto my favourite item. The SHOES! I absolutely love, adore, worship, cherish these heels and you’d be mad if you didn’t agree with me. And what makes them nearly as attractive as their appearence was their price. I first saw these in Missguided for £35. I was still just as much as in love, but at the time had other things to buy and was attempting to be sensible. However, I few weeks later I was back in the Missguided store and saw they were in the sale for £12. Yes £12! I couldn’t believe it. And as a triple happiness hit, my boyfriend pharchased them for me as an early birthday pressie. Winning! I wore these to add a bit of quirkiness to my outfit, as those who know me, know I rarely avoid the plain and simple.

I can not for the life of me find a skirt like this, so I have linked to Topshop's 'skirt' category where you can find lots of great styles: Topshop skirts
Shoes: Missguided (available on Schuh for £25)
Top: PrettyLittleThing (£20)

I will try to post another outfit blog shortly so watch this space.
