Outfit Review: A kind of 60's (post) Christmas

I want to review this little get together as more of a casual look. I am aware I blog a lot on dressy outfits that are more suitable for an event or an evening out, so I wanted to show off something a little more low key. I had some family over to my Grandmas last week as a kind of post Christmas get together. A chance to eat more food, drink a little more alcohol and open a few late gifts. On these occasions of eating and drinking, one doesn’t want to be wearing a tight little dress that sits on the heavy stomach, so I opted for something a little more freeing, but still fun!

I purchased these flared trousers from Pretty Little Thing for my work Christmas party and want to get good wear out of them throughout the festive season. Of course these can be worn anytime of the year, but I chose them for a Christmassy look. Anyone who knows me, knows how much I love red. Trousers, dresses, bags, earrings. Light, bright, patterned or plain. If it’s red I’ll love.

Since I was already wearing a bright colour, I decided to just wear a plain black long sleeved tee and over this I then chucked on the comfiest, cosiest fluffy cardigan. This was actually brought from the nightwear section in Tesco’s F&F, but I love wearing as part of casual day time attire.

Unintentionally going for a 60’s styled look, I paired with grey velvet boots and a baker boy hat - the story of this hat is slightly amusing. I searched far and wide trying on many styles which all resulted in being way too big for my little pea sized head. Not only did I realise how small my head was, until I purchased a girls style in River Island. AGE 3-6 YEARS! Yeah, I knew I had a small head, but not that small. Always worth considering children’s sizes, especially if your like me, 23 but still with child features. Just to continue the Christmas spirit I wore my huge tassel redy orangy earrings from Primark.

This is the type of outfit that tends not to be pre-planned. All of us are guilty of planning our outfits way in advance and then when you put it on it doesn’t quite look how you imagined it in your head right? Yep, we've all been there. When going for a casual look like this I more than often wait until the day and see what kind of mood I’m in. Sometimes this works better and means you can play around with different styles and pieces of clothing without feeling disappointment that the image in your head trumps massively over reality.

If you’re interested I have have tagged some of the outfit details below.
